A Striking, Contemporary Garden Room for Outdoor Living and Entertaining

Nestled within landscaped gardens in Timble, this striking garden room was designed as both a private retreat and a space for entertaining. With its dramatic floating roof, seamless glazing, and robust natural materials, it provides reliable, year-round comfort while making a confident architectural statement in the landscape.

A Spanish-Inspired Garden Room Designed to Levitate in Yorkshire

A Spanish meets Yorkshire-inspired garden room outbuilding. The inspiration for our design came from Mies van der Rohe’s Barcelona Pavilion, but with a Yorkshire twist. We created a remarkable outbuilding structure featuring a cantilevered roof that appears to float above a solid stone wall. Our computer-generated sun study helped us select the ideal south-facing angle for the terrace to capture the evening sunlight.

A Garden Room Designed to Frame Its Landscape

The garden outbuilding was designed with a cantilevered roof, clad in standing seam metal with a cedar soffit, creating a warm, sheltered canopy over a glazed pavilion. Stone garden walls and integrated planting anchor the building, while large panes of glass open wide to frame long views across the hills.

Featuring A Brise Soleil Roof for All-Weather Sun Protection

Our design embraces a brise soleil roof, meaning “sun breaker” in French. A solar shading system featuring elegant, angled blades or louvres above the external covered space. This system skillfully blocks direct sunlight and reduces solar heat gain, fostering a cooler, tranquil environment while lowering energy costs. It invites diffused natural light and the warm embrace of low-angle sunlight into the space. A passive design feature that enhances interior comfort by managing glare. Beyond its functionality, it stands as a striking architectural element, elevating the overall beauty of the garden room building.

A Space to Live Outdoors, Whatever the Weather

Using bifold doors, the flexible lounge and garden kitchen flow onto a covered terrace, with seating and dining protected from wind and rain. Discreet heating, lighting and shelter extend use into spring and autumn, so gatherings aren’t weather-dependent.

Eco-Design Garden Room Construction: Built to Endure

In its construction, materials were selected for low maintenance and longevity, including a standing seam roof, cedar, natural stone, Corten-edged planters, and large-format paving—robust enough for the Yorkshire climate. Eco-design is deeply rooted in all projects we undertake. All of which we project manage from design to planning to completion.
