This 16th Century Timber Framed aisled barn was renovated and saved from a derelict storage barn to become the beating heart of the Leeds based charity, Caring for Life.
Townscape Architects worked alogside Jameson Consulting Engineers to sensitively repair, rejuvenate and extended the beautiful oak framed building into a farmshop and restaurant.

Townscape Architects are proud to have received the York Design Award for Sustainabilty for the York Bridge Club, a purpose built community facility located adjacent to the cricket club in Acomb. This purpose-built facility has been meticulously designed with sustainability and long-term cost-effectiveness in mind.

We have incorporated various eco-friendly features such as a sustainable heat recovery ventilation system, an air source heat pump, and solar panels. We have just received planning approval for this amazing outbuilding in the Nidderdale AONB !!! Inspired by Mies van der Rohe’s Barcelona Pavilion with a Yorkshire twist, the proposed structure has a cantilevered roof appearing to float above a solid stone wall.
