Our Awards

As award-winning architects, we pride ourselves on our work and the results show.

Award Winning Architects

As award-winning architects in Yorkshire, Townscape has won many prestigious local awards for our work. These architectural and design awards include The Northern Design Awards (both as winners and finalists) and The Leeds Architecture Awards for the best-conserved building. The judges praised a “very fine piece of restoration which deserves top marks for conservation.”

York Design Awards - Sustainability Award Winner

We were lead architects designing the award-winning York Bridge Club. A local charity organisation that received the prestigious York Design Awards for its newly built community facility in Acomb – an award that recognised the sustainability, flexibility and efficiency at the heart of the design. A design incorporating solar power, air source heat pumps, and spacious central hall areas with vaulted ceilings and window lights is a flexible space that could facilitate national bridge competitions or use folding partitions for smaller local groups. The design of this facility was focused on enriching the community, a collective, contemporary structure that would encourage social interaction and enjoyment and make the bridge accessible to everyone.

Best Conversion Award

Townscape Architects were awarded Best Conversion for the revitalisation of The Granary – a derelict 16th-century grade-II listed stone barn in Leeds, West Yorkshire. A new entrance, formed from steel and glass, now welcomes the approach to a double-height oak-framed restaurant and farm shop under arching beams, meticulously restored using traditional timber repair methods. Sunlit high-level roof lights, sustainable materials and internal curved glass walls with coloured glass panels created an award-winning open kitchen.

Winner of the Best Conversion By Northern Design Awards.

Leeds Architecture Award

Townscape Architects were awarded the prestigious Leeds Design Awards in 2013 for the ‘Best Conserved Building In The City’. This 16th-century timber-framed aisled barn was renovated and saved from a derelict storage barn to become the beating heart of the Leeds-based charity Caring for Life

Townscape Architects worked alongside Jameson Consulting Engineers to sensitively repair, rejuvenate, and extend the beautiful oak-framed building into a farm shop and restaurant.
A refurbishment and conversion that marries perfectly the new and old.
