When work is undertaken, such as building an extension or alterations to a home, building regulations approval will likely be required.
The building regulations process is a two-stage process that involves submitting detailed plans and specifications for the project to the council building regulations department or to an approved building inspector. When these plans have been checked, a ‘Plans Approval’ will be issued. When the building work commences on site, the inspector will visit at pre-determined stages to inspect the foundations, structure, and insulation.
When the works are complete, the building inspector will ‘sign off’ the building regulations and issue a completion certificate.
