Discover one of our property renovation projects in Yorkshire: The Old School in Whixley, a North Yorkshire Conservation Area. The Old School House was built between 1850-1900AD and designated a Special Merit Building. Planning permission was granted in 2015 for a contemporary extension and alterations to the building, allowing it to be reconfigured into a stunning family home.
The house has been completely transformed, and the main circulation routes reconfigured to help the spaces to flow.
The main living areas have been located within the lofty double height spaces of the old school house. The large open-plan living kitchen is spacious and versatile yet retains the charm and features of the old building.
A beautiful handmade kitchen has been installed along with parquet flooring and cast iron radiators as a gentle reminder of the buildings former use.
