Work on Peter O’Sullevan House, The Injured Jockeys Funds third rehabilitation and fitness centre, which is to be located on the site of the British Racing School in Newmarket has now commenced and is to be completed at the end of 2019. East Anglian contractors, R G Carter, have been appointed to build the centre at an approximate cost of £6m.

Peter O’Sullevan House will house state-of-the-art rehabilitation and fitness facilities including physio treatment rooms and a hydrotherapy pool, as well as a light and airy gym, the Injured Jockeys Fund Head Office and a Peter O’Sullevan Atrium which will contain racing memorabilia from his life, and a meeting/work space for those using the centre.

Along with those at Oaksey House and Jack Berry House, the Hydroworx Hydropool is key to any rehabilitation facility and beneficial in treating a multitude of injuries with its underwater treadmill, massage hoses and performance monitoring systems. It can also accommodate spinally injured patients.

Peter O’Sullevan House will be available to use for IJF beneficiaries, jockeys current and retired, Racing Welfare beneficiaries, British Racing School students and the wider racing community in Newmarket.

We are proud to have worked with the IJF over the past five years to assist them in the delivery of three fabulous projects; Jack Berry house in Malton, the upgrade of Oaksey House in Lambourn and the design of Peter O’Sullevan House in Newmarket. What’s great about the new facility is that it brings together so many fantastic resources all under one roof; with a fabulous light and airy gym, a state-of-the-art hydrotherapy pool, a spectacular new HQ office premises and a library to be named after Peter O’Sullevan himself. Working with a charity like the IJF over such a long period of time has been a truly rewarding process and we look forward to seeing the new facility open its doors in the autumn of 2019.
