Ling Lane – Remodel and Extension

Townscape architects were commissioned to transform this substantial family home located on Ling Lane in Leeds. The existing 1930’s dwelling had been extended by previous owners and the internal layout had become fragmented and did not suit modern day family living. Our brief was to create an open plan family room, cinema room and to reconfigure the flow of the house.

By adding a modest 4m extension to the rear of the property the internal layout was completely transformed to create a stunning, contemporary open plan interior that fits with the family’s requirements for living and entertaining. The kitchen was relocated into the heart of the family home and a glass roof light and bi folding doors were introduced to inject daylight into the heart of the living space.

Externally the extension was designed to add coherence to the rear of the house by adding a new frontage at ground floor level. Stone detailing was re-introduced around new window and door openings to match the original dwelling, maintaining the high quality palate of materials across the build. Extensive terraces and patios were constructed to enhance the flow of the house into the garden.

Townscape provided a full architectural service from start to finish, including overseeing the construction phase. The construction works were professionally undertaken by Sam Long , Kitchen by Arlington Interiors and the audio-visual installation by Harrogate Home Cinema.
